Expressing great sadness; saying "I happen to be very sick at heart tonight; saying "As for what I have--I read it otherwise than you--A name--little enough--for ever blemished--even in its littleness--works--which have cost me much and are--nothing--unworthy ambitions--paltry troubles--broken health--age in perspective with its crutches--beyond that--Nothing. If I could only draw the veil over the nightfear of the Venus de Medici, I shouldn't mind, but I can't."
